On November 28th, GPI Iberia participated in the annual event organized by the Canary Islands Health Service to bring together all the Pharmacy Services of the Canary Islands Hospitals, within the DragoDosis and DragoFarma project.
Carlos Durán, commercial director of automation at GPI Iberia, presented the capabilities of the Riedl Phasys system for the automated dispensing of medications in pharmacies. Riedl Phasys systems are installed in Hospital Pharmacies to store and dispense outpatient medications; that is, non-admitted patients who collect their medication monthly at the Hospital since they have treatments with medications that are only dispensed in Hospital Pharmacies, not in Pharmacy offices, such as HIV, Growth Hormone, Hepatitis, etc.
In addition, Riedl Phasys offers many other utilities and applications to improve the management of other services:
- management of clinical trials
- narcotics
- oncology
- shipment of medicines to peripheral centers, etc.
The Ministry of Health has recently contracted the supply, installation, and maintenance of pharmacy logistics systems necessary to address the third phase of the DragoDosis project, consisting of the deployment of automated storage, packaging, and distribution equipment, as well as medication dispensing robots in the hospitals of the Canarian Health Service.
The supply has been acquired in 5 lots, of which lot two has been awarded to GPI Iberia, and consists of five medicine dispensing robots (two double and three integrated), in addition to the installation and maintenance for the same period. These robots will be located in the Insular-Maternal and Child University Hospital Complex, the Canary Islands University Hospital Complex, Dr. José Molina Orosa University Hospital, La Palma University Hospital, and Fuerteventura General Hospital.
