On 14 February, the Gpi Group will take part in the conference entitled “Telemedicine services in territorial medicine”, scheduled to be held in Palermo at Palazzo Steri.
The conference is organised by the University of Palermo together with Fomed, the Italian Foundation of Digital Medicine. The meeting takes its cue from the observation that the ageing of the population and the dwindling resources of the national health system generate separations between the demand for assistance and the actual offer. In this context, telemedicine, also from the perspective of the NRP, is seen as a solution for maintaining proximity medicine.
The Gpi Group will be speaking at the conference with Antonio Colangelo, Director of the Research and Development Department.
Currently, in the field of Telemedicine, Gpi has launched six projects in Sicily: two at the Agrigento Asp, one at the Catania Asp, and three in Palermo (Villa Sofia Cervello, Policlinico Giaccone and Ospedale Civico). “For now, the focus is on assisting people who live in disadvantaged areas, such as mountain villages and islands,’ explains Paolo Di Giandomenico, Area Manager Sicily of Gpi.
The departments that are most interested in this type of technology are typically Cardiology, Diabetology and rehabilitation functions. We are working to create a culture that can grow in other areas as well, thanks to the increased awareness of the potential of these instruments’.
