On October 21st, Riedl GmbH, the German automation company within the Gpi Group, took part in a significant reforestation initiative in the Thuringian Forest (Central Germany). As part of the Baumpaten Deutschland project, Riedl actively participated in planting new trees in a region severely impacted by climate change and bark beetle infestations.
The collaboration with Baumpaten Deutschland, an organization that promotes reforestation projects across Germany, is both practical and results-oriented. Riedl’s contribution follows a straightforward yet effective model: for every axis system or gripper sold, the company donates a tree seedling. In 2023, 480 seedlings were donated, and for 2024, another 410 seedlings have already been committed, bringing the total to 890 trees. A number that will continue to grow.
This initiative is not only a practical effort to help counter the dramatic loss of forest cover, but it also strengthens the connection between the company, its people, and the surrounding environment. Many Riedl employees live near the Thuringian Forest or spend their leisure time there, making it a key part of their daily lives. Supporting projects like this helps deepen that connection.
The project goes beyond tree planting: it helps offset CO₂ emissions (about 3,115 tons), fosters biodiversity, and contributes to a healthier ecosystem. Through this approach, Riedl GmbH demonstrates how a company can combine economic success with environmental sustainability, setting also an example of social responsibility.
